SAL thanks the deputies, community, those who donate, and civic leaders who provide the resources necessary to allow SAL to serve the youth of San Mateo County. This unique partnership of community, law enforcement, and youth is making a difference in the lives of the youth and families we serve. Specifically, we'd like to thank the following groups we have partnered with: North Fair Oaks Council, Casa Circulo Cultural, Boy and Girls Club of the coast, ALAS, San Mateo Police PAL, Redwood City Police Department, RWCPAL, Coast Pride, Coast Hope, Puente, Redwood City Parks and Recreation, Redwood City School District, National Police Athletics/Activities League, and the Half Moon Bay School District.
SAL depends on the talented deputies of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office to fulfill our mission. We also count on a vast network of generous and civic leaders to provide the resources necessary to allow SAL to serve the youth of San Mateo County. It’s a unique partnership of community, law enforcement and youth that makes the SAL program successful in making a difference in the lives of the youth and families we serve. When you make a donation to SAL– whether it is of time, money, sponsorship or an in-kind gift – you change a child’s life.
The "Defying Gravity Awards" are awarded to one individual and one business each year that go above and beyond. In the world, stars defy gravity and on the earth, our award winners defy gravity by going above and beyond any limits that have been set to make a difference in lives of others. These awardees give back to the Sheriff’s Activities League and the community as a whole making them our stars that truly defy gravity.
The SAL Youth of the Year award is awarded to a SAL Participant/Alumni that exemplify the successes of their life while being a SAL member.
The SAL Deputy of the Year award recognizes outstanding community service by a Deputy or CO over and above what is required as part of their normal duties and functions.
The SAL Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual for their commitment to youth, families and the communities of San Mateo County.
As with all of our programs, our volunteer opportunities are wide-ranging – not only in terms of the time commitment but in terms of the range of opportunities. The following list represents our current needs, but if you have something you’d like to do that is not listed here or just have questions about what may be involved, give us a call at: (650) 257-3408 Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Thank you in advance for volunteering your personality, talents and time to one or more of our programs. Without people like you, San Mateo County SAL programs could not exist, nor could they have reached the longevity required in order to impact our community and its youth.
